Where Is Mitch? uses limited, pseudonymous product analytics to understand whether people find, finish, return to, and share the daily search.
What is collected
- A random browser identifier and random tab-session identifier, both hashed before storage.
- Product actions such as opening, starting, completing, and sharing a case.
- Case number, search time, false-sighting count, streak, and broad device class.
- Referring domain, campaign source/name, and random share-link attribution when available.
- Whether traffic came from the production site or a preview deployment.
What is not stored
No raw IP addresses, names, visitor email addresses, precise locations, full referring URLs, advertising identifiers, or cross-site browsing histories are stored in the product analytics database.
Repeat visits
The random browser identifier allows the site to recognize repeat use in the same browser. Clearing browser storage, using private browsing, or switching devices creates a new identifier. The identifier is not used to identify a person.
Retention and choices
Detailed analytics events are deleted after 90 days. Anonymous daily totals may be retained longer for trend reporting. Browser “Do Not Track” is honored. You can also turn analytics off on this browser or turn it back on.
Service provider
The site and analytics database run on Cloudflare. Analytics are used only to operate and improve Where Is Mitch? and are not sold.
